The Heart of the Wounded Healer, with Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés Réyes, is an annual, five-day training intensive that delves deeply into the wounds we carry – whether inherited or self-inflicted – and unveils their hidden wisdom. Learners gain the tools to harness this wisdom and channel it into impactful work for their lives and in the world, all from a unique and powerful two-world perspective.

OVERVIEW

In this training, enter via second world, into a deepening of your understandings of your life's myth and pathways, your farback people's susto, your own, and that of others — that goes beyond the usual publicized healing methods.

Join us for an immersive five-day training led by world renowned best-selling author; psychoanalyst; post-trauma recovery specialist/ first responder; indigenous historian; cross-cultural teacher; and cantadora [keeper of the old stories in the Latino tradition], Dr. Estés Réyes, in her 56th year of practice, a pioneer in Liberation Psychology — and a steward of curanderismo for five+ decades.

This unique training is designed for helping professionals and helpers across diverse fields—medical personnel, educators, social workers, life coaches, parents, grandparents, helpers, and beyond—who are eager to blend ancient wisdom with their contemporary practices.

In The Heart of the Wounded Healer, participants will embark on a journey to explore the “anatomy of the fragmented soul.” In curanderismo, this is called Susto (soul loss) — an occurrence of shock that can occur in many ways.

We will enjoin the remedios for susto via platicas (heart-to-heart communication between the cast of characters in one's life including events and persons — and one's own Child Spirit), via the rite of Limpias which means to clean, and is done since time out of mind as a ritual with an organic form — in this case, an actual egg used for clearing, knowing what was not known before, and cleaning literally the body, mind and spirit, soul and heart...

And using La voz, A certain kind of Voice for the calling back of the soul into full union with body after a long sickness or recent trauma or long slog in a wasteland, or other especially sudden 'shocks' to a person.

Dr. Estés provides participants with a powerful framework for understanding the old tradeoffs of unhealed trauma through the lenses of both ancient traditions and modern neuroscience.

Participants will learn to understand at deeper emotional and biological levels, how trauma [which can be considered a walking /talking energy force in its own right that can whale upon a person or help to heal, depending] manifests within the mind, the body, the heart, the soul, and the Child Spirit [and one's own culture] ... and how to lovingly invite the soul back into, after certain ways and means, the now safer body.

Join us to re-root the sacred nature of healing. Through engaging discussions, practical activities, and reflection, attendees will learn:

- The Integration of Earth Forces for Healing: Understand the significance of creating a “healing bundle” and the Ritual of Re-Integration. Plan a basic toolkit that incorporates certain earth elements to anchor yourself and the persons or groups you are helping in order to interrupt or balance the cycle of trauma.

-Bridging Tradition and Modernity: Debunking the myth that “Susto” is mere superstition. Learning to see it as a valid and even essential response to trauma, and how to ground this concept in modern trauma theory and somatic practices.

- Creating Healing Space: Gaining insights on how to create fostering environments where the "vital force" within each person feels safe enough to return. Dr. Estés emphasizes that true helping/healing comes from acknowledging and supporting the innate wisdom of the individual seeking help. Getting at what that is exactly for each soul, is the unique helping environs we are seeking.

Participants will engage with Dr. Estés in an environment that encourages deep exploration and connection, honoring both the personal and collective journeys of healing.

This training is an opportunity to build bridges to the sacramental, elevating to clearer consciousness — your individual concerns about yourself, and those in your life and professional practice — and as with all helpers — to new levels of compassion and effectiveness.

Potential learners should be prepared to enter *“the closed container”*, committing to fully engage in the process—attending each session with an open mind, a willingness to navigate discomfort, ability to re-compose oneself even so, and a desire to place the soul at the forefront of their practices

The number of participants in this training are intentionally limited to ensure personal attention and a rich learning environment. This training is not suited for those who are already practicing as curanderos or shamans, or other practitioners of lineage... but rather for those who are eager to deepen their connection to the spiritual dimensions of healing for the first time or after a long break, including those who are beginning and/ or mid-career professionals from different modalities.

This is a training for the dedicated learner who has and is working to help place ego in second position, Soul in first position.

It is for people who can enter “the closed container," meaning, remain in soul and spirit, attend fully every session, and be present and be willing to go deep -- perhaps for some, while enduring discomfort, if any, (physical, emotional, or psychological) that might arise, for this may be part of one’s own personal process.

It is for those who have the physical ability to do some of this work outdoors if asked, (nothing arduous, but being able to be outdoors on a short trek for instance).

It is for those who think they hear the summons and are serious, who seek to learn the benefits and honored ways of prayer and ceremony, who can value the spirit in all things, including one’s own ancestors, and listen with an open and ‘beginner’s mind’ and heart.
